The Merchant’s Daughter
Hagenheim #2
by: Melanie Dickerson
Amazon
I adore Melanie Dickerson’s fairy tale novels. They are so much fun. I’ve read them all at least once. Some I’ve read two or three times. Of all the fabulous books in the Hagenheim series, The Merchant’s Daughter is my absolute favorite. I have read this book four times so far. Each time I read it I love it more and more. The Merchant’s Daughter is a very well-done Beauty and the Beast variant. Beauty and the Beast is my most favorite fairy tale, so naturally The Merchant’s Daughter is right up my alley. If you have not read this book, I highly recommend you do so soon. It really is such a great story!
About the Book
An unthinkable danger. An unexpected choice. Annabel, once the daughter of a wealthy merchant, is trapped in indentured servitude to Lord Ranulf, a recluse who is rumored to be both terrifying and beastly. Her circumstances are made even worse by the proximity of Lord Ranulf s bailiff a revolting man who has made unwelcome advances on Annabel in the past. Believing that life in a nunnery is the best way to escape the escalation of the bailiff’s vile behavior and to preserve the faith that sustains her, Annabel is surprised to discover a sense of security and joy in her encounters with Lord Ranulf. As Annabel struggles to confront her feelings, she is involved in a situation that could place Ranulf in grave danger. Ranulf’s future, and possibly his heart, may rest in her hands, and Annabel must decide whether to follow the plans she has cherished or the calling God has placed on her heart.

“The Grace and Truth Paradox” by Randy Alcorn. It’s about balancing your responses with both grace and truth, because one has no value without the other.

The Still of Night by Kristen Heitzmann. I needed the message in its story in a desperate way during a painful time in my life, and God brought it to me at just the right time. “Things don’t always work out the way we want. The trick is to want the way they work out.”

I really love how God does that. He’s SO good He meets us in His Word, novels, movies, etc. God loves stories!
