About Me

EngagementPhoto
My husband and I days before our wedding in 2011.

I have been an avid reader since birth. When life gets messy, and even when it doesn’t, I go to books! Books are the perfect place to retreat to when life is too overwhelming or when I need a fun escape.

I wear a lot of hats: I am a wife, a mother,  a sister to four brothers and one sister, a daughter, an aunt, and a teacher.  Reading is one way to center myself so all these hats don’t weigh heavy on me. While it can get overwhelming, I do love all that God has put into my life!  I am a very blessed lady.

I teach AP English Literature and Composition, Medical English 12, English 9 Honors, and English 9 Medical at Palmdale High School in Palmdale, CA. I am currently finishing my 15th year at PHS. It feels like only yesterday that I was a scared, brand-new teacher.  My how time flies.

Naturally, being an English teacher, I am teaching my 7-year-old a love for books! So far, so good.  She is my blessing and my miracle.  She brings such joy to my days.  God blessed me when He put Bella into my life!

Why review Christian fiction?  That’s simple!  Because I love Christian fiction works.  I appreciate that Christian fiction novels are clean.  I don’t ever have to worry about sharing these books with my child (when she is ready, of course).  Like any other genre, most Christian fiction novels are exceptional, and some are not so much.  But, most Christian writers I have met, spoken to, emailed, or heard in an interview express that writing isn’t a job, but a calling.  They believe wholeheartedly that God has called them to this profession, and that seems to make the writing that much better.

In this blog, I will primarily review Biblical fiction, Christian Historical fiction, Christian Romances, and Contemporary Christian novels.

  1. Hello! I’m sure you’re amazingly busy, but if you have time, I’m a new author, and I was hoping you might read my book. I have a PDF or mobi l can send you if you’re interested. Either way, thanks for your time!

The book is Criss Cross A Holly Novel, and it’s published under my pen name, C.C. Warrens. I do have a Facebook author page under that name.

    Thank you!

    1. I would be honored to read your book! I do have about 6 books I’m reading right now for authors and those have very specific due dates, but I will definitely read your book. It sounds excellent! Do you want me to message you on FB with my email?

  2. Good afternoon, I hope I’m not being a bother by posting here, but I’m a young Christian author and I have a historical fiction book I think you would enjoy. The novel is titled Destitutio Quod Remissio (it’s written in English, I promise!) and is a meditation on Colossians 3:13. It blurs the line between literary and genre fiction with elements of romance and mystery. I have an assortment of formats I can send if you’re interested. It would be a privilege to have an English teacher’s thoughts on it.

Thank you for your time and may the Lord bless and be with you.
