Book Blogger Hop is run by Billy@CoffeeAddictedWriter. I was first introduced to the Book Blogger Hop posts by Bonnie at Bonnie Reads and Writes. Definitely check out her site. She is great! Anyway, Book Blogger Hop deals with a different bookish question each week, and this week’s question, posed by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer is:
Yes and no. I’ve seen some covers lately that knock my socks off. But I am very much over the cartoonish covers. They were cute when they first came out, but now the market is saturated with cartoon-character covers and I am done with them.
Boy! You and me both! I am seriously tired of the no faces!
I love the cover of Between You and Us. Great book too!
I am more of a historical reader anyway, unless it’s suspense.

I haven’t seen the no-face cover used for too many Historical covers. I agree, Between You and Us was AMAZING. Loved that story. Have a great day, Paula!

I’m tired of the no faces and the faces being cut off at the top, but I figure it’s just a trend that will fade. I wouldn’t say contemporary covers lack originality as proven by the Between You and Us cover.

You are right. Between You and Us proves there is still a ton of creativity in the cover department. But I really am done with the no-face covers. They seem to be getting creepy.

I don’t like the cartoonish covers and sometimes skip a book because the cover is off-putting. Some of the best covers out there are from Revell, in my opinion.

I agree! Revell is great. 🙂

I agree on the cartoon character covers. There are some that are fun, but there are also a fair amount that feel low-effort.
