His Encouragement #137

Welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Matthew 7:12-14 (ESV)

Today’s post will be brief. It is meant to be thought-provoking and self-reflective. So, here we go …

  1. Do you treat ALL people the way you expect to be treated? That guy who cut you off on the freeway? That mean person on Twitter? That person you don’t agree with politically, religiously, etc.?
  2. What gate are you standing near? Are you standing in a large crowd? Do you say one thing, but act another way? Do your words sound just like everyone else’s?
  3. If the narrow gate is the right gate to enter, and only a few find it, are you one of the few? How do you know?

This is a pretty heavy topic this week, but I really feel now is the time to self-reflect and wrestle with these ideas and questions.

God loves you so much and He wants you on His side but you, dear reader, have to be willing to seek out HIS right gate and enter through it. If your crowd seems a bit large and popular, if it’s yelling out all the “approved” things that placate “itching ears,” you may not be on the right track (2 Timothy 4:3).

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

WHAT BIBLICAL VERSE IS ENCOURAGING YOU TODAY?
