His Encouragement #122

Welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Joshua 1:9 (ESV)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

I love this verse.

I love it for two reasons.

First, I love it because of Joshua’s attitude. The subtext is this: “Guys! Why are you worrying again? Haven’t I told you several times? Haven’t you witnessed several times God’s goodness and might? He’s right here with us. Don’t stress!” Joshua’s attitude is fantastic. He reminds me of David when he went up against Goliath. The shock David felt when he realized the Israelites were actually afraid of Goliath. “How can that be?” David wondered internally. Joshua and David’s attitudes towards God can be summarized as follows — they knew with their whole beings that God is BIGGER than anything and anyone. I want to be like Joshua and David. I want to be so sure in my God that everyone and everything looks minuscule in comparison!

Second, I love this verse because it is another facet to God’s promises to us — He is with us no matter the time of day, where we are going, who we are with, etc. God is present. He is standing right next to us. We just need to acknowledge Him. Isn’t that amazing?! It sure puts things into perspective for me.

In this time of craze, it strengthens me to know that God is BIGGER than anything and He is standing right next to me through all of the insanity. There truly is nothing to fear. God is so, so good!!!

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

  1. Joshua 1:9 has been my companion through so many things! I love this verse and shared it many times. When another shares it it makes me feel like we are bonded together in truth! Thank you!

  2. I really needed this reminder today. I have this Scripture on my mirror in my bathroom, but somehow, I have been overlooking it. I need to see it again with new eyes and hope!

    1. I really needed this reminder too. Going to an online model for school has been super overwhelming and stressful. God reminded me yesterday that He’s the Boss. He is right next to me. I can get through anything. I’m glad today’s post benefited you today! 😊

  3. Thanks for this reminder. I really needed it today, particularly: He is with us no matter the time of day, where we are going, who we are with, etc. God is present. He is standing right next to us. We just need to acknowledge Him.
