About the Book

Marlborough, England

1804

Margaretta had used the word desperate many times in her life, but she’d never truly known the meaning until she stood in the open door of a mail coach, clutching an eight-month-old letter and praying that someone in this minuscule market town would know where the writer had gone when she moved on.

I will read anything by Kristi Ann Hunter. She is a phenomenal story teller. I am so excited to read this brand-new novella, and I really can’t wait for book 1, A Defense of Honor, to release in June!

And, isn’t the cover gorgeous!? I absolutely love it. The colors are great, and the girl is so pretty. The cover definitely draws my interest and makes me want to grab a cup of tea and read!

Now it is your turn! Grab the book you are currently reading, open to chapter one, and post the first sentence (or second sentence) in the comments below. Then head on over to Hoarding Books to see all of the FLF pages this week (just click on the FLF button below).First Line Fridays hosted by Hoarding Books

  8. Happy Friday!

My FLF comes from a book I will be starting later this weekend, Love’s Journey in SugarCreek by Sienna Miller.

The leather on Rachel Troyer’s gun holster creaked as she shifted her weight on the kitchen chair. Her three elderly Amish aunts shot wary glances toward the offending weapon.

Have a great weekend and Happy Reading!😁📚

Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line of a wonderful new book about the Maccabees, Judah’s Wife, but here I’ll share the first line of the nonfiction book I’m reading now, Our Unmet Needs by Charles Stanley: “Do you have a nagging, gnawing feeling that something isn’t quite right in your life? Do you feel overwhelmed by a need you can’t meet, a problem you can’t solve, or a question you can’t answer? Are you able to identify the real need that underlies your feelings of uneasiness, fear, worry, or restlessness?”

  15. Well, I hope you’re happy. I’m adding another title to my already monstrously long TBR and it’s all your fault.
Over on my blog, I am sharing the first line from Michelle Griep’s The Innkeeper’s Daughter which I will review soon.
Here, I will share one of my favorite lines from that book:
“It might’ve been a cozy inn at some point, but now the walls leaned in toward the soot-blackened ceiling, giving the impression the entire building wanted to lie down and rest.”
