Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday!
hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday post. This week’s topic is Things that Make Me Instantly Want to Read a Book. So, here is my list:
- A long day at work — nothing makes a long day at work better than coming home to my family, changing into comfy clothes, and sitting on my couch next to my husband with a good book in hand!
- The news — this world and its insanity drives me to my books faster than anything. I don’t watch main-stream media news all that much because it’s just pure ugliness, but when I do find myself checking it out, I then find myself running to my books for escape.
- Sadness — whenever I am sad, reading almost instantly makes me feel better.
- A good podcast interview — I love podcasts, and I especially love podcasts that center around books and authors. My favorite is MadLit Musings with Jaime Jo Wright. She always has the BEST conversations! I do admit to buying several novels from new-to-me authors because of the conversations had with Jaime Jo.
- Anytime Laura Frantz releases a book, I am there! I purposely leave the first week of January wide open so I can enjoy Frantz’s latest novel uninterrupted. She is my favorite go-to author, and I will literally read anything she writes.
- Anytime Becky Wade or Denise Hunter release books — Wade and Hunter are my two favorite Contemporary Christian Fiction authors. Their books are always so good, so realistic, and so relatable.
- Anytime Emily C. Childs releases a book — Childs is my favorite new-to-me author. She writes the BEST Contemporary Romances ever. If you have not yet read a book by her, I highly recommend reading one ASAP. You will love it!
- Anytime Connilyn Cossette or Mesu Andrews release books — Cossette and Andrews are, hands down, the best Biblical Literature authors. Their stories make the Bible come to life.
- Anytime a book utilizes the “hot, popular character who falls for the plain Jane (or Joe)” trope — I LOVE this trope. It is my favorite.
- Anytime I find a really good Sports Romance — I love Sports Romances. Not many know that about me actually. I believe I love this genre because it usually incorporates my favorite trope (see #9), and I can’t ever get enough of my favorite trope.

I agree! A good cover always makes me pick a book up and see if I want to read it. 😀

I just don’t watch the news- only for the weather, lol. For me, the biggest thing is the plot of a book that makes me want to read it, which is why it’s so disappointing when the execution isn’t done well. Thankfully, most books I read are good ones 😅

I’m glad to see someone else gets book recommendations from podcasts! Agreed about the news….science books used to be my go-to to get away from all the bad news. In science we used to always be finding out more and moving forward. These days even it’s gotten political, though. 😦
My list is here.

Podcasts rock! I am sorry about science though. It has definitely been politicized unfortunately.
Thank you for sharing your list. Going to check it out now! Hope you have a great rest of the week.

Sports romances can be so much fun. I would love to find one where the athlete is the female, and the regular person is the guy. So often, it’s the other way around.

That would make for a great Sports Romance. I would read that in a heart beat. Thank you for sharing your list with me. I am going to check it out directly.

Books by authors I already know and love definitely get priority from me. As much as I enjoy trying out new authors, I also really like the comfort of reading books by my favorite authors.
Happy TTT!
