Welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.
Praise the Lord, all nations! Extol Him, all peoples! For great is His steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!
Psalm 117:1-2 (ESV)

Psalm 117 is the shortest psalm in the Bible. It flows so beautifully that even if a person has trouble with memory (like me) it’s one set of verses that’s pretty easy to memorize. And what a message!
I long for the time when ALL the nations praise God. It is coming. Revelation 15:4 tells me it will be so: “Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. All nations will come and worship You, for Your righteous acts have been revealed.” It’s going to be an amazing time, and I truly cannot wait!
Extol means to praise enthusiastically — and we absolutely should praise Yahweh evey day with great enthusiasm and spirit because He is so cool and so deserving of all honor, respect, and love. God is good all the time, and we should praise Him continually without ceasing.
My favorite line in this psalm is “For great is His steadfast love toward us” (emphasis mine). God’s love points to each of us and it is unwavering and unchanging (that’s what steadfast means). I think that is so beautiful and so encouraging. If you are feeling sad or depressed or hopeless or just a bit “meh” today, remind yourself right now that God has unwavering love for you. That’s just so cool! God truly does deserve our worship.
I also like the verse that tells us that God’s steadfast love is always there for us. That encourages me so much!
