An expert at winning a woman’s hand. A woman who cannot be won.

Lord Featherstone has the world on his shoulders. Or at least his world. With two brothers and a failing estate he must make funds somehow. But what happens when he falls for a woman? Will his tactics work when the situation is so close and personal?

Everyone thinks Lady Loveluck is a wealthy widow. What they don’t know is that she is on the brink of hiring herself out as a Governess in order to pay for her next meal. The only thing keeping her from employment is a growing reputation as a matchmaker. As long as she never falls for another man, as long as she doesn’t allow herself to be fooled into marrying, she will be just fine.

But she never counted on being caught up in the beguiling tactics of London’s renowned and not so secret matchmaker for men.

My Thoughts

To Win Her Hand by Jen Geigle Johnson is a sweet Regency Romance that I enjoyed. I found the storyline engaging, and admit to spending a night or two reading past my bedtime. I enjoyed following along as two very strong and independent characters navigate the business of matchmaking among the Regency Ton. It was great fun to see Lord Featherstone and Lady Loveluck work with their very unique clients. I loved the relationship that grows between Featherstone and Loveluck. I will always be a sucker for a story where the hero has strong protective instincts when it comes to the heroine; and, boy, does Featherstone feel a super protective streak when it comes to Emmeline. I enjoyed the easy banter and playfulness between the two. The theme in this story that really comes across to the reader is how heavy the world feels when it’s on a person’s shoulders. Both Featherstone and Loveluck appear to be well-to-do members of the Ton, but in reality they both need money and they need it in a bad way. Keeping up appearances and keeping others at arm’s length can be really hard to do. Johnson did a great job of showcasing what it truly looks like to carry burdens. In fact, there were a few times I wanted to reach into the story and hug the two main characters and let them know life would be OK. My mama’s heart worried for these characters. Overall, To Win Her Hand is a super cute Regency Romance that I enjoyed and heartily recommend. If you enjoy an endearing Regency Romance then you will want to check this story out ASAP!

I received a review copy of this novel in eBook form from the publisher, King’s Row Press, via AustenProse PR. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
