Memory Lane (2023)

About the Book

Book: Memory Lane

SeriesSons of Scandal #1

Author: Becky Wade

Release Date: February 14, 2023

After surviving a trauma several years back, Remy Reed relocated to a cottage on one of Maine’s most remote islands. She’s arranged her life just the way she wants it, spending her time working on her wood sculptures and soaking in the beauty of nature. It’s quiet and solitary—until the day she spots something bobbing in the ocean.

Her binoculars reveal the “something” to be a man, and he’s struggling to keep his head above water. She races out to save him and brings him into her home. He’s injured, which doesn’t detract from his handsomeness nor make him any easier to bear. He acts like a duke who’s misplaced his dukedom . . . expensive tastes, lazy charm, bossy ideas.

Remy would love nothing more than to return him to his people, but he has no recollection of his life prior to the moment she rescued him. Though she’s not interested in relationships other than the safe ones she’s already established, she begins to realize that he’s coming to depend on her.

Who is he? What happened that landed him in the Atlantic Ocean? And why is she drawn to him more and more as time goes by?

There’s no way to discover those answers except to walk beside him down memory lane.

Travel to the rocky coast of Maine for “opposites attract” banter, witty humor, a fascinating mystery, and destiny-changing love. This sweet contemporary romance kicks off Becky Wade’s new Sons of Scandal series!

My Thoughts

I loved every minute spent reading Memory Lane by Becky Wade. This book is fantastic!

Remy stole my heart from very early on. I have a soft spot for heroines who run away from trauma and pain, for heroines who do all they can to contain and control their lives. I really get these characters. I have OCD. I love control. When life gets crazy, you can find me in my kitchen cleaning or in my classroom organizing. I love to put order to chaos. Remy loves to keep her very quiet, very quaint life in check. Remy is the type of woman who fiercely guards her day-to-day, her privacy, and her dealings with humans in order to keep from feeling overwhelmed. I believe that for people who experience real trauma they deserve time to run and hide. They need a period of time to guard their days, their privacy, their interactions with others in order to heal and regain their peace. Remy had a truly ugly, evil thing happen to her. She deserved a period of time to mourn, to grieve, to heal, and to regain her peace. But Remy has become so comfortable in her hiding that at the beginning of this story she is trapped in her hiding and doesn’t know it. And that is why Jeremiah is a literal Godsend. Jeremiah enters Remy’s life in chapter one like a hurricane to a calm land. To say he upends Remy’s highly controlled world would be a laughable understatement. Jeremiah is the composed, controlled, and seriously self-disciplined hero to Remy’s frenetic, imaginative, and creative heroine. But he is also the one person in her life who is blatant, honest, and open. I totally loved his character. His ability to access situations and react appropriately is heroic. He does such a great job of understanding Remy and where she comes from, but what he does best is respect that Remy needs to feel like she has control over her situations. Jeremiah gives Remy the best gift a damaged girl could ever want — safety. And in that sense of safety, Jeremiah is able to tell Remy truth. It hurts but it will set her free. And in between, Remy and Jeremiah embark on quite the emotional adventure. It’s a wonderful ride!

Memory Lane is an excellent read. I enjoyed every step of Remy and Jeremiah’s journey to friendship and love. I could gush about this book non-stop. I highly, highly recommend this book. Purchase a copy ASAP. You will not want to miss out on this great story.

I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Becky Wade’s webstore on January 27, 2023, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
