The only way to keep her safe is to make everyone think she’s his…

Inheriting the ranch in Montana after her estranged father’s death is a surprise but finding out she’s one of seven daughters is the real shock. And now Emma has to track them all down in order to sell? Oh yeah, this short trip to the middle of nowhere just got a whole lot more complicated. At least the foreman of the property is kind enough to make her feel welcome. Nash might be a gruff, stoic cowboy, but when he agrees to give her a taste of country living and introduce her to the lovely people of small-town Aspire, she’s done for. This cowboy is so sweet and handsome, he’s almost too good to be true…

His father is after her land…

Nash doesn’t know what to expect from the city girl who’s just inherited his ranch. But it definitely isn’t Emma. He knows what his family wants—her land. And he knows he should be doing whatever it takes to get her to sell. But one look at the way she lights up beneath the big sky and all he can think about is how to protect her from his father’s ambitious determination. Convincing his family and the town that she’s his girlfriend is a temporary fix. Until his heart gets involved. And then all bets are off. Because family is complicated, but love? Love is everything.

My Thoughts

A couple of months back, I got into an “I need a new-to-me author” kick. So, I went searching through the Kindle Store looking for something new AND good. I came across Sophia Quinn’s Pretend to Be My Cowboy and the rest of the O’Sullivan Sisters series. I’m not really a Cowboy Romance reader, but the premise of this book caught my attention. So, I bought book #1, and I enjoyed every minute of this story. In fact, I read 50% of the book the very day I purchased it, but then realized, “Oh no! I have review books due.” So, I had to put this book on hold for a little bit. Once I cleared my review pile, I got back to this book and finished the last 50% in a matter of hours. This story is that good! For me, it was an unputdownable read where I kept turning pages until 4 AM (yes, I was exhausted the next day, but it was worth it). And, honestly, I loved everything about this story. It pulls the reader in immediately. The premise is unique — a woman learns that her estranged father has died and needs to make a decision about the land he left her and her younger sister, only to discover there are five more sisters she never knew about. Yeah, that screams interesting conflict! The characters are well-crafted as well; I really LOVED Emma’s internal monologuing and Nash is a perfect hero. And I really enjoyed the journey Emma and Nash embark on in this story as all of their conflicts and struggles are totally relatable. Overall, Pretend to Be My Cowboy is a really excellent Contemporary Romance that I highly recommend. I really look forward to meeting more of Emma’s sisters in the ensuing installments.

I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon.com on April 2, 2022, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
