My Thoughts

I really enjoyed Saved by the Rockstar by Michelle Pennington. I am a sucker for a good Protector-Hero storyline and this novella delivered. This novella is a highly engaging story that I could not put down. In fact, I read this book in one sitting. I was pulled into the storyline from page one and pages flew! I really like both Ryland and Julie’s characters. I love that Ryland is a really good guy who also happens to be a handsome rockstar. He’s not the stereotypical playboy or addict. Instead, he’s well-read, athletic, and super creative. And he also pays attention. I love how he immediately feels a need to protect Julie. I love when a guy feels that way towards a woman. I think it is SO sweet. All in all, Ryland is well-rounded and perfect for Julie. Julie is just the woman Ryland needs. She is sunshine and down to earth. She is normal. When it comes to Ryland’s world, normal is exactly what he wants. I like that Julie is famous in her own right — she is a well-published, popular author of Fantasy-Romance novels, so she is no stranger to having fans herself. I really love that Julie is not the perfect, super-model woman. She is normal. She suffers from anxiety attacks. She has confidence issues just like any other woman. Yes, Julie is a pretty woman, but what matters more is her intelligence, her courage, and her creativity. And Ryland falls for the whole package. I love that! He could have any woman he wants, but he sees how wonderful Julie is and he goes for substance rather than outside appearances. Talk about a swoony hero!

Pennington packs quite a lot into a brief story. I loved Saved by the Rockstar and definitely cannot wait to read the next novella in this series. If you are in the mood for a well-written, sweet, and clean Contemporary Romance, then you’re going to want to check out this novella.
