SeriesFor Love and Rock #4

Author: Emily Childs

Release Date: March 7, 2022

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sweet Romance

Once upon a time, a claustrophobic schoolteacher collided with a broody rock star in a finicky elevator…

Vienna Shaw doesn’t do risky, edgy, or anything on the wild side. She’s the woman who thinks The Goonies is a horror movie and lives for Austen-era romance novels.

So, when a night out of her comfort zone ends up in a nightmarish elevator, all the risks she never took spill to the stranger in the corner: actually see The Goonies, ride a rollercoaster, and get that heart-melting kiss people write books about.

She didn’t expect the smoldering guy with tattoos to step up and knock one of those things off her list.

They survive.
Hearts melt.
He leaves without giving his name.

Until a school assembly is hosted by the rock band from the concert, and Rees Hayden, the bassist who rarely cracks a smile, bears an uncanny resemblance to the man in the elevator.

Turns out, Vienna kissed a rock star. And he isn’t even close to done with her yet.

When opposites attract will it be the perfect match? Or will the good girl and rocker bad boy end in the perfect disaster?

For readers who love a good mix of sweet and sizzle, toe-curling kisses, swoony book boyfriends, and a happily ever after.

My Thoughts

Our New Song by Emily Childs is the perfect end to one of the best contemporary romance series I’ve ever read. I have thoroughly enjoyed each installment of the For Love and Rock series, and I’m so sad my time with these characters is over. This is definitely a series I will re-read again and again. So, what did I love about Our New Song? Absolutely everything! As with every Childs’s novel, the characters are wonderfully endearing and relatable. As a long-time high school English teacher (wrapping up my 17th year — whoa! 😲), I couldn’t help but love Vienna and her passion for her students and profession. I fully relate to her literary nerdiness and her super introverted tendencies. And I really love her character — she is fiercely loyal to Rees and so down to earth. Vienna is just all-around awesome. And then there is Rees … can you say, “SWOONALICIOUS”?! Rees has the brooding, dark, curmudgeon-y rock star down pat. I love how he immediately feels protective of Vienna. It melts my heart SO much when a man has a strong protective streak. But Child’s characters aren’t the only reason I love this novel. I appreciate so much that Child’s stories are full of emotional depth. She really has a way of zinging the reader’s heart. Our New Song deals with real, relatable character flaws and relationship issues. I’m not going to lie — I shed a tear or two for Vienna and Rees because of the journeys they each traversed in this story. Overall, if I had to boil down to one word how I feel about Our New Song, that word would be satisfied. My reader heart is super satisfied with Vienna and Rees’s super excellent story.

Our New Song is a fast-paced, captivating romance that I just did not want to put down. I highly recommend this excellent story. If you need a well-written, satisfying read, definitely purchase a copy of Our New Song today. You won’t be disappointed you did.

I purchased a copy of this novel in eBook form from Amazon.com on March 6, 2022, in order to review. In no way has this influenced my review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
