My Thoughts

Our Broken Song by Emily Childs is an absolutely FANTASTIC contemporary romance. This book has everything a girl could want in a great love story. The pacing is exceptionally fast — I finished this book in one sitting. I truly did not want to put this book down. The storyline is excellent; I love a good rock’n’roll romance. And the characters are perfect. Ellie is one cool chick. She is definitely the kind of person one would want in their corner. Yes, she is creative and fun and fierce, but what I love the most about her character is her loyalty to her friends and family, and how she refuses to let Tate hide from his demons. Ellie is such a supportive character. We would all do well to have an Ellie in our lives. Tate is the BEST hero ever. Oh, how my heart hurt deeply for his character. In fact, I needed tissue for a good chunk of this read. Tate’s childhood was deplorable and has caused some relationship issues in his adulthood. He also suffers from debilitating anxiety attacks and thoughts that spiral irrationally out of control. I’ve never related to a male character as much as I have Tate. I feel that Childs did a phenomenal job illustrating the pain and torture that out-of-control thoughts and anxiety attacks inflict on a person. This book is not all heartbreak though. No, no, no! This story has some seriously steamy moments for sure. The chemistry between Ellie and Tate is electric, and I’m surprised they don’t both catch on fire whenever they’re in the same room together. LOL!

Our Broken Song is a homerun by author Emily Childs. This story is unputdownable and unforgettable. I am sorry my time with these characters is over, but I totally look forward to reading book 3 in the series, Our Lost Song. I know it will be as amazing as books 1 and 2 are!
