About the Book

Rivkah

25 AV, 1380 BC

Kedesh, Israel

I’d been here before. Seated on the same three-legged stool with the same two girls plaiting the black locks around my head, their hands fragrant with sweet almond oil as they entwined tiny white flowers into the braids. Only this time, their matrimonial blessings rang hollow and the smiles they offered were tinged with grief instead of joy.

  1. 1st line –
“Love is in the air…” I sang as I walked to campus in my cheetah sandals.
    My 56 –
“You both knew what was coming, yet you called him out in front of his peers and colleagues.”

  2. My first lines are from The Lost Lieutenant by Erica Vetsch:

Seaton Estate Berkshire, England January 4, 1813

“You’ll do as you’re told if you know what’s good for you. I won’t be humiliated again.”

  3. Happy Friday!

That is an amazing first line!

On my blog this week, I’m sharing the first line from What If I Loved You by Mandi Blake:

“Liz stared at a loose thread on the arm of Mr. Garrison’s couch as the tears dried on her face.”

    Have a great weekend 🙂

  4. Happy Friday! My current read is Meant for Her by Joy Avery Melville. I will share the first line from Chapter 3, which is where I’m at right now. “The scent of grassy hay, sweet feed, warm horse flesh, and leather tack calmed Candi when she stepped through the main door of the stable.” I wish you a wonderful weekend!

“Catriona Maclean returned the phone to its niche, slumped onto the worn oak bench in the entrance hall of the manse, and groaned out loud. She needed a man.”
