Thursday Encouragement #124

Welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Psalm 119:114 (ESV)

You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in Your Word.

I love the imagery in this verse. The picture of God being my refuge, my hiding place, is so comforting especially in this crazy time of ours.

It feels like I am surrounded by fearful people who are incapable of seeing and/or understanding truth. Logic has gone right out the window. This is a very dangerous thing. When people stop using logic and only see through an emotional lens, I get very nervous. Hitler succeeded in large part because he was able to get the masses fired up emotionally and played into their fears and hates. Mainstream media is doing the exact same thing today. They are purposely playing into the masses’ fears and hates.

But why do we fear?! Especially if we proclaim faith in Jesus Christ.

Today we have a Goliath-sized problem on our hands — it’s called COVID-19, “pandemic,” “police-state.”

Would you be a normal human if you didn’t feel some fear over these things? No, you would not. Should you stay fearful? Should you let your feelings carry away your logic? Of course not! Why?! BECAUSE God, the Creator and Planner of EVERYTHING, is your hiding place, and in His Word He promises to be there for you as long as you obey HIS commandments and statutes and words AND have faith in Him. Often, God tells His people, “Be strong and courageous.” Today is your day to be strong and courageous in God!!!

Today, have faith like David. God has your back. He’s already got the pebble set in His slingshot to take out this Goliath-sized problem. TRUST GOD. He is your hiding place and shield!

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

WHAT BIBLICAL VERSE IS ENCOURAGING YOU TODAY?

  1. You have said just what I have been thinking- we must not have a witch hunt, we must not go giving up freedoms without thought, well said. I love the thought too that God has my back! Thank you.

  2. I have been feeling the same discouragement seeing all that is going on.
I was reading through a Christian author a couple weeks ago, after COVID restrictions were in place. He quoted Isaiah 33:6 – and he will be the stability of your times, abundance of salvation, wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is Zion’s treasure.
I’ve been growing in my dependence on God more in the last month than most of my Christian life.

    1. Thank you so much for your comments. I love Isaiah. It’s one of my favorite books in the Bible. This verse is excellent! I, too, feel like this COVID experience is showing me God at work in an amazing way but people seem to be so blinded by an odd fear that they can’t see Him. It makes me sad more than anything. Thank you so much for stopping by! God bless. 🙂
