His Encouragement #120

Welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Judges 2:20-22 (ESV)

So the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He said, “Because this people have transgressed My covenant that I commanded their fathers and have not obeyed My voice, I will no longer drive out before them any of the nations that Joshua left when he died, in order to test Israel by them, whether they will take care to walk in the way of the Lord as their fathers did, or not.”

I believe we are living in Matthew 24 times.

I believe this Coronavirus pestilence is another proof that we are living in the times as Jesus described in Matthew 24.

I also believe, that on some level, God is using this time of pestilence as a test just as He used the nations as tests during the times in Judges.

I can’t tell you how many posts I’ve read this week that have talked about fear. People are scared. And, some people, rightly so. If you do not believe in God, this is a very scary time. If you are at all immune-compromised, this is a very scary time and necessary precautions should be followed. And, if you have loved ones that fall into either category, I understand worrying for their sakes.

BUT, if you are a professing Christian who proclaims faith in Jesus, there should be no cause for fear. God does NOT give us a spirit of fear. God gives us a spirit of love, courage, faith, and discernment.

If you believe in God, then Psalm 91, the Warrior Psalm, should be playing on repeat in your brain, specifically this part:

“I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.’ For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.”

Don’t fall into the fear trap. Don’t let the devil win! Keep your eyes firmly on the prize — Jesus Christ. To do that you have to continually look up!!! Look up now!!!

Yes, please, take every precaution to keep yourself and your family safe and healthy. Only crazy people would tell you not to do this. But don’t let the fear that is permeating the earth right now take over. Go to God. Look to Him for your peace, your answers, your next steps, etc. God is our Strong Tower, our place of refuge. He will not fail us! Take Him at His own Word!!!
