About the Book

June 1, 1797

Knox County, Tennessee

It was unbecoming to be jealous of a dear friend’s marriage.

I adore Shannon McNear’s storytelling. She is so good!!! I don’t think it’s possible for her to pen a bad story. But I have to be honest — I’m terrified to read this book. I struggle so hard with true crime stories. BUT, it’s a Shannon McNear novel, so I know it will be good. Definitely check back soon for my full review.

  1. I look forward to hearing your thoughts! This is one I’d like to read… but it will be a while because my schedule is quite full to bursting at the moment.

  2. West Kootenai, Montana
Even the fresh scent of bleach couldn’t overcome the acrid stench of smoke from the Caribou wildfire that raged in Kootenai National Forest.

  3. The Blue Cloak should be in the mail to me shortly! She warned us!!!! Da da da dum!
My first line is from The Blizzard Bride by Susanne Dietze ( another Barbour series I love):
“ Forgive my cryptic invitation to lunch, Miss Bracey, but I dared not go into detail on the chance your post was intercepted.”
    Happy reading this weekend!

  4. I shall join in from next week, but the book I am currently reading begins in rather a mundane way. “There had always been Derings at Vittoria Cottage”.The book is called Vittoria Cottage and is by D.E. Stevenson.

  5. I’m currently reading Finding the Road Home by Tina Radcliffe and the first line is “Police chief Mitchell Rainbolt shook his head as he slid into the front seat of his departmental SUV and tried to remember by he was still in Rebel, Oklahoma, running a department with less staff than the Arrowhead Diner across the street.” I’m really enjoying it so far! I hope you have a nice weekend. 🙂

  6. This week on my blog I shared the first line from More Than We Remember by Christina Suzann Nelson but I’m currently reading The Fifth Avenue Story Society by Rachel Hauck so I’ll share the first line from chapter 9: “The only thing worse than donning a rented tux on a Friday night so he could rub elbows with Manhattan’s rich and infamous, was inviting a last-minute date.” Hope you have a great weekend!
