Welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

2 Chronicles 15:15 (ESV)

And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought Him with their whole desire, and He was found by them, and the Lord gave them rest all around.

Last week I took a week off from my blog for several reasons. First, last week was my 15th “first week” of school. Not only was it my first week back, but I’ve also been granted two new promotions at work, and I didn’t know how my time would be affected. I can say now that those two new jobs are going to be a handful, but I’m ready for the challenge. Also, last week was my daughter’s first week of 2nd grade. I wanted to be extra present for her because she had confided in me that she was a little nervous. It was important to me last week to be there for Bella with no distractions just in case.

But, boy, am I glad to be back!!!

Knowing that my school year this year is going to be overloaded craziness, I wanted to focus today’s encouragement on rest.

2 Chronicles 15:15 really resonates with me today. It’s such a beautiful verse. Actually, 2 Chronicles 15 is a beautiful chapter. It deals with King Asa of Judah who strives with his whole being to do right by God. He clears out the idols and altars from Judah, and he has the Temple restored. His love for Yahweh is so infectious, the Judeans get excited and swear an oath that they will love, honor, and serve the Lord with their whole hearts. They are so excited they “rejoice” over their oath. I love this picture. Have you ever been so on fire over an oath?!

What did these Judeans swear? With their WHOLE HEARTS, they swore to seek after God. And they found Him. They were so excited to find God, they rejoiced even more. And, God was so happy with His people and how dedicated they were in their search for Him that He gave them “rest all around.” Doesn’t “rest all around” sound like a fantastic thing? That means no “war” in your life, no overload, no sense of being overwhelmed. Imagine it!!!

The key to God’s “rest all around” is seeking Him with your whole heart!

Are you tired today? Do you need a good rest? Well, my friend, God is waiting to give you that good, solid rest. All you have to do is go to Him. Seek Him with your whole heart, and He will be there for you.

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

  1. It’s exciting to get new responsibilities at work but stressful too. I’ll be praying for you!! Hoping you have a fabulous school year ahead. I can’t believe your daughter is in second grade (mine’s a senior aack!). How very mature of her to admit to you she was nervous. You’re a good mama to be there for her. I love this verse by the way!!

  2. I’m excited to hear of your promotion!! I’ll be praying for you that you can juggle the additional workload without too much stress and still be able to have “me” time. Family comes first so no worries on the absence! ❤
