About the Book

Connecticut, 1890

“You and your brother are to go to the music room, close the door, and don’t come out until I say you can.” It was strange for the maid to be ordering Rosalind around, but nothing had been normal since Mama and Papa got sick.

These first two lines begin one of the most engaging and scary prologues I’ve ever read. In addition to this being one awesome storyline, I highly recommend getting this book for the prologue scene. It’s intense.

  1. That one really sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. On my blog, I’m featuring More Than Words Can Say, by Karen Witemeyer. Since it’s also my current read, I will share the first line in Chapter 17, “Let her go.” His growled demand echoed through the alleyway as Zach advanced.

I wish you a wonderful weekend.

  2. “It’s quite blustery today,” I murmured as a fine sheen of ice-crusted snow crunched under my feet while a steady wind buffeted us.

  3. Yes, this definitely was an intense prologue – and a fascinating book!

I’m sharing the first line from Catherine West’s latest book over on my blog, As the Light Fades. I know we’re not supposed to judge books by the cover, but this has a great cover and I’m itching to get into it.

    Happy reading!

  4. Need to read this one by Elizabeth Camden!
My first lines are from Fire Storm by Nancy Mehl

He waits, hidden in the shadows of the tall, stately trees that lined the street. He is the only one who knows that hell has just opened its doors.

  5. Happy Weekend! My first line is from “Choose Me” by Marion Ueckermann:

“Today of all days, Julia Delpont needed to forget about the world.”
