His Encouragement #88

PhotoCollage_20190717_185524616.jpgGood morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

What kind of tree are you?

The word trust means “to believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of” something. When Jeremiah uses trust in verse 7, he means that we believe in God’s reliability, His truth, His ability, and His strength without any doubt. We never doubt God’s capability in any situation. In fact, trust in God means we believe as Ephesians 3:20 proclaims: Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think. In other words, we believe in God SO much we believe He is capable of more than our brains can comprehend.

When we trust God with our whole might we are like a strong tree planted near water. When we trust God we are so strong we can withstand drought and still bear fruit!

My favorite aspect of these verses is the phrase and is not anxious in the year of drought. This piece encourages me the most because it means that if I place my trust in God, as I should, I can withstand those times in my life that seem dead and hopeless and dark and sad. Not only will I be able to withstand these rough patches, but I will be able to do it without anxiety. I don’t know about you, but I really want that kind of trust in God! I hate feeling anxious.

Today I encourage you to consider what kind of tree you are. Are you mighty with strong roots and gorgeous leaves? Or are you a little wilty? If a strong wind came, would you topple?

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

WHAT BIBLICAL VERSE IS ENCOURAGING YOU TODAY?
