His Encouragement #84

Good morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He and He alone is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

This has been a rough week.

It’s supposed to be the first week of summer break for me and my daughter. A fun time. A time of rest and family and food and play.

BUT, it’s been a rough week.

On Monday I took my daughter to a neurologist for an EEG. She did a great job during the test. I’m very proud of how well-behaved she was. A seven-year-old isn’t typically prone to laying in one spot for 30 minutes, but Bella did it!

I would like to say that everything is OK, and I really think it will be one day, but for now, the diagnosis is that Bella has petit mal seizures, otherwise known as absence seizures. As of right now, I have no idea what that really means for her life. It could mean medicine. It probably means a specific diet. It definitely means very little screen time (this won’t be a problem). And, it means lots of extra doctor visits.

As scary and overwhelming as this week has been, God tells me in Philippians 4 not to be anxious. He tells me to pray. He wants a conversation with me so I can tell Him everything that’s going on. And then He will give me His peace. No matter what is happening, as long as I talk to God, He will calm me down. And, boy, do I need some calming today.

If you’ve got a lot on your plate right now and the anxiety is starting to kick in, remember to stop and pray to God. He’s waiting to talk to you about your cares so He can give you His peace!

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

  1. Praying for your family as you get all the answers to your questions, a plan for the best way to face this while enriching your lives, and as we know that God’s hand is in all your coming events.

Yes, that was totally amazing and very brave for a little girl that young to stay still for so long. I’m MUCH older and I’d have great difficulty doing that. Sounds like a very special little girl for sure. ❤

  2. Hello Nicole! I know many don’t like to be told of alternative takes on addressing a heath issue but I still thought I’d share. My father-in-law used to have seizures, the long ones that would make him bite his tongue to pieces. He worked himself off of medication & switched to GABA. And I understand petit mal seizures are a different sort but perhaps this could be a different approach versus medication. It does come in a powder form also so one can measure out their own smaller doses. I take it to relieve/prevent certain headaches every day.

      1. Whew! Good to hear, I’m not either! It seems that when one medication is started then ya have to take another one…and then another & it’s just an icky roller coaster. I always Google the natural remedy for an affliction. God put some good stuff out there! 😉 🙂

    1. I should add… I don’t think it’s God’s plan for Bella to have seizures. But only He can take that and make something beautiful out of it. Maybe Bella’s experience will reach someone for God that would have otherwise never had the chance to know God.
      Love & prayers!!
