About the Book

Southampton, England, 1815

Was it wicked to say goodbye with a smile? Wrong to feel happy about leaving one’s family behind? Surely only a sinner’s heart would harbor such uncharitable emotions … wouldn’t it?

I love Michelle Griep novels, and I have really enjoyed her Bow Street Runners series, so of course, I am excited to read this one! If you have not yet read any of the books in this series, I implore you to do so. Griep is an excellent storyteller!

Check back soon for my review of this fun novel!

  1. I’ve got a combination first line and cover reveal over on my blog today, sharing the first line and the cover from A Girl’s Guide to the Outback by Jessica Kate. I’ve had the privilege of reading an early draft, and I’m looking forward to reading the final version!

In the meantime, I will console myself with reading Jessica Kate’s debut novel, Love and Other Mistakes, which releases next month. Here’s the first line:

“Natalie Groves eyed the bag of gingerbread M&M’s on the other side of the office meeting room and prayed for a divine intervention of Red Sea proportions.”

  2. Polly was sad yet excited. This very morning at the breakfast table, her father had told the family that they were moving to Texas.

  3. My first line is from The Reluctant Bride by Jody Hedlund:
    London, England. May, 1862
“Hang on a little longer, my lamb,” Mercy Wilkins shifted the listless infant in her arms without slowing her pace.

    Loved Michelle’s book!
    Happy reading!

  5. This one is on my TBR list. I’m glad you liked it. I’m a little late. Busy day. On my blog, I’m featuring The Insanity of God by Nik Ripken. Here, I will share the first line from Chapter 19. “The authorities moved Dmitri a thousand kilometers away from his family and locked him in a prison.” I hope you will have a wonderful weekend.

I’m sharing from an upcoming release today, Belinda Blake and the Snake in the Grass by Heather Day Gilbert. Here is the first line from Chapter 2:

  8. Hope you enjoy it!
On my blog this week I featured The Brides of Big Valley by Wanda, Jean, and Richelle Brunstetter but I am currently reading Tate by Susan May Warren so I’ll share the first line from chapter 4 here: “With one article of clothing, Glo became a new woman.” Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of reading time! 🙂
