About the Book

The Teacher looked at his scroll, light dancing in little ringlets over the words from the flickering candle at his side. Flickering like the breath of wind. One circlet encompassed the word he could not stop writing, could not pour enough emphasis into, though his stylus had scratched the repeated word clean through the parchment.

Meaningless. Meaningless. Meaningless.

I am a BIG fan of Biblical fiction. It’s probably my most favorite genre. Jill Eileen Smith is a new-to-me author. I’ve only ever read A Passionate Hope, and I LOVED that book so much. When I saw that The Heart of a King released I was excited to get the chance to read this book. So far, I am into chapter 12, and I am enjoying it. My heart really goes out to Solomon’s wives.

      I, too, could not handle being part of a harem. I may not be worth a lot, but I’m definitely more than a common object to be owned! LOL!

  4. i finished that book a few days ago. Made for some interesting reading. Here are the first two lines from a book I am looking forward to — Living Lies by Natalie Walters. “Just let go. The breeze lifted Lane Kent’s auburn hair from the back of her neck.”

  5. If this book is the story of one of Solomon’s wives, it must be an interesting perspective. But we will probably never know what it was really like, although I have wondered. I think their mentality about love, romance, and marriage was quite different from ours.

    On my blog, I’m featuring Romancing the Bride by Melissa Jagears. My current read is Becoming Mrs. Lewis by Patti Callahan. Since I’m about to start Chapter 5, I will share the first line from that chapter. “From a hazy woodland sleep, Davy and Douglas’s laughter along with that of the Walsh girls flooded through the open window.” May you enjoy a wonderful weekend.

      I agree, their perspective had to have been different than ours. I’d like to think that most marriages these days are entered into on a more equal footing, and less like a business contract. I feel badly for all of Solomon’s wives. I’m not sure any of those women really felt loved. That makes me sad.
