This week, I am featuring:
A Bride in the Bargain
by: Deeanne Gist
Amazon
A Bride in the Bargain was one of the first novels I’ve read by Deeanne Gist. I really enjoyed this story. It’s a very easy and engaging read. I did take issue with the main character’s stubbornness, but I think that’s because I recognized the same stubborn streak in myself. Overall, I definitely loved the story and highly recommend it.
About the Book
In 1860s Seattle, a man with a wife could secure himself 640 acres of timberland. But because of his wife’s untimely death, Joe Denton finds himself about to lose half of his claim. Still in mourning, his best solution is to buy one of those Mercer girls arriving from the East. A woman he’ll marry in name but keep around mostly as a cook.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN!
Share a book you’ve read in the past and explain briefly why it’s so memorable to you in the comments below.

I believe the girl on the cover is Deeanne’s daughter. I think I read that somewhere because I remember thinking, “Wow! That’s cool. This book is a family affair!

Deanne’s books are always such fun. She reminds me of Karen Witmeyer. To Win Her Heart is one of my favorites that sticks with me. She’s fun and always has an unlikely romance in there.

To Win Her Heart is the one and only Karen Witmeyer novel I have not read. I don’t know why I haven’t gotten to that one yet. I’ll have to fix that. LOL!
