The Deceived (Once Lost #1)
by: Kelly Harrel
About the Book
A Letter from Danny Morton
“The hardest part of being the youngest child is the impossibility of being your own person.”
The Deceived is a young adult novel that follows Danny Morton through his tumultuous first two years of high school. Man, does he make some stupid, teenage choices! I found this book to be quite a compelling story. It is fast-paced, highly engaging, and well written. I definitely recommend this read.
Check back tomorrow for my full review.

My first line is from chapter nine of The White City by Grace Hitchcock:
Winnifred paused at the corner of South Wallace Street and 63rd and drew a ragged breath as she smoothed down the front of her flawless navy skirt, trying to summon her nerve and ignore her misgivings.

Some calls went wrong. Terribly wrong. Deputy Kendal McKade’s gut screamed this was one of those calls.

I’m always happy to receive recommendations of Christian fiction for my teen grandchildren!

You might want to read this one first, Vickie. This is part one of a series. It’s a Prodigal Son story. Book one is all prodigal. No redemption yet. Just letting you know because the main character is a bad boy!

Thanks. I will pass the word to my daughter who carefully checks what her children read. She is a Christian homeschool teacher and would probably welcome a prodigal son allegory. Are the other parts available yet or just this first one?

Just the first book right now. It just released. I think part two comes in a year.

Happy Friday & Happy Weekend! My first line is from “The Curse of Misty Wayfair” by Jaime Jo Wright:
“Melancholy was a condition of the spirit and the soul, but also of the mind.”

I like that first line. It makes you curious to know why the writer wrote that as her first line. Interesting…
Have a wonderful weekend!

My first line comes from Catching the Wind by Melanie Dobson:
“Maple leaves draped over the tree house window, the silvery fronds linked together like rings of chain mail to protect the boy and girl playing inside.”
Happy Reading!

I’ll be sharing my review for this one later in the month 🙂
On my blog this week I shared the first line from Uninvited by Beckie Lindsay but I’m currently reading Vivir el Dream by Allison K Garcia (Yes, it’s written in *mostly* English but anything in Spanish shares a translation). I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (6) here: “Linda grumbled as she changed from her pajamas into jeans and a t-shirt.” Hope you have a great weekend with plenty of quality reading time! 🙂
