About the Book

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall flame scorch you.  — Isaiah 43:2

Present Day, Les Trois-Moutiers, Loire Valley, France

Fairy-tale weddings never included rain on the guest list. Or snow — and they had both.

I adore Kristy Cambron novels. They are so well researched and the writing is stellar. Castle on the Rise is no exception. I am particularly loving the setting. I have longed to go to Ireland my whole life, but I’ve never been able. Castle on the Rise has absolutely transported me to this gorgeous island. I feel like I’m right there with all the characters. I only have a few more chapters left to read, and I’m a little sad. I am really enjoying my time in Ireland with the amazing characters that Cambron has created. If you are into time-shift novels filled with great characters and amazing history, then I really recommend this book!

  1. Happy Friday!

MY first lines come from Criminally Cocoa by Amanda Flower.

“Cut! Cut!” the director Raymond Reynolds yelled. He was a tall, loose-jointed man, who braided his hair into a ponytail at the back of his head. Before meeting him, I didn’t think I had ever seen a man with a braid before, and I couldn’t stop staring at it. In my community only little girls braided their hair, never grown women and certainly never menfolk.

Have a great weekend and happy reading!💜

Ivena stood in the small greenhouse attached to her home and frowned at the failing rosebush. The other bushes had not been affected – they flourished around her, glistening with a sprinkling of dewdrops.

  6. That is a great first line! I’ve been hearing about Kristy Cambron’s books for a while, but haven’t gotten around to reading any of them yet…hope to remedy that soon!

I recently started “Treasure of Hope” by Cecily Wolfe. Here’s its opening line: “Sarah felt a twinge of guilt at skirting from her maid’s watchful eye, which wasn’t all that sharp this evening.” Happy reading, and thanks for hosting the giveaway!
