Memorable Monday #25

Welcome to Memorable Monday! The purpose of Memorable Monday is to showcase an influential book read in the past that still sticks with you today. This fun Monday morning post is hosted by the lovely Becca at The Becca Files.

This week, I am featuring:

The Mark of the King

by: Jocelyn Green

The Mark of the King was the first book I read written by Jocelyn Green. I LOVED this book and knew immediately that I had found a new Christian Historical author to follow. As with all her books — I’ve since read several more — the research in The Mark of the King is stunning, and the way she creates realistic characters is superb. The best part of reading any Jocelyn Green novel is the realism. I love that when I pick up a book by Green I’m going to feel like I am there with her characters. I adore interacting in books like that. I read The Mark of the King quite a while ago, but I can still vividly remember several scenes as if I read the book yesterday. That, to me, is the mark of a fantastic, exceptionally talented author.

If you have never read The Mark of the King before, I implore you to purchase a copy today. It’s an amazing book. And, just want to let you know that Jocelyn’s latest novel, Between Two Shores, releases February 5, 2019. Between Two Shores is STELLAR, and I highly recommend that book, too.

About the Book

After being imprisoned and branded for the death of her client, twenty-five-year-old midwife Julianne Chevalier trades her life sentence for exile to the fledgling 1720s French colony of Louisiana, where she hopes to be reunited with her brother, serving there as a soldier. To make the journey, though, women must be married, and Julianne is forced to wed a fellow convict.

When they arrive in New Orleans, there is no news of Benjamin, Julianne’s brother, and searching for answers proves dangerous. What is behind the mystery, and does military officer Marc-Paul Girard know more than he is letting on?

With her dreams of a new life shattered, Julianne must find her way in this dangerous, rugged land, despite never being able to escape the king’s mark on her shoulder that brands her a criminal beyond redemption.

Share a book you’ve read in the past and explain briefly why it’s so memorable to you in the comments below.

  1. I have read The Mark of The King. Thanks to Nicole!
I am finishing up Between Two Shores this morning. I was privileged to be on Jocelyn’s influencer team for this one. She is such a wonderful person and a wonderful writer. Among the books out there these two are epic!
Another memorable one I read recently was The Curse of Misty Wayfair by Jaime JoWright. Creepy good! Writing is stellar and the story is told seamlessly in two time periods.
