About the Book

I know it’s wrong to steal — even worse to steal your sister’s diary. But I just can’t seem to stop myself.

What great first lines! I am very excited to read this book. It is my next-up review book. I have to admit that Melody Carlson is a new-to-me author, so I am not sure what to expect. But the book summary sounds really good. Plus, it’s a novel geared towards Young Adults. As a high school teacher, I am ALWAYS looking for good, wholesome, well-written works I can share with my kiddos. I’m really hoping this is a novel I can share with them. Definitely check back soon for my review.

NOW IT IS YOUR TURN! GRAB THE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING, OPEN TO CHAPTER ONE, AND POST THE FIRST SENTENCE (OR SECOND SENTENCE) IN THE COMMENTS BELOW. THEN HEAD ON OVER TO HOARDING BOOKS TO SEE ALL OF THE FLF PAGES THIS WEEK (JUST CLICK ON THE FLF BUTTON BELOW).

  1. “And there she goes.” The man’s voice was a hushed, hoarse whisper.

  2. Happy Friday! My first line is from “This Courageous Journey” by Misty M. Beller:

“Today, we left the train – forever, if my aching limbs could decide the matter.”

  3. Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from One Plus One Equals Trouble by Sondra Kraak! The book is FREE (limited time – this weekend only).

I’m currently reading Under the Same Sky by Cynthia Roemer. I’ll share the first line from chapter 23
“Where’d Mr. Bennett and Mr. Whelan go, Miss Becky?”

  4. Hi! Happy Friday.

I shared the first couple of lines from my current read, Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi. I have only started it today and am just on the second chapter, so I will share the first few lines from chapter 2 here instead.

    Kahina
The girl’s braid hasn’t fallen out in three days. Her hair is sunlight incarnate, and the strand weave together in a smooth and seamless pattern that leaves me sick with wonder. I wish I could speak to her. I wonder if her voice is rough or soft.

Hope you enjoy that. Happy weekend! 😀

  5. My first line is from My Heart Belongs in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania by Murray Pura:
It is about the Underground Railroad.
    Saturday night, early December 1860
    Adams County, Pennsylvania
    Five miles north of Gettysburg

It was so black she could not see her hand even if she held it so close it touched her face.

      1. Yep, I thought she was pretty spoiled. Too outspoken. I’m about halfway done so I will finish it . I’m enjoying the historical facts.

      2. Yes! I’m so glad we agree.
And, I loved the historical setting. Pura does an excellent job of detailing the Underground Railroad and the Civil War. Those parts are awesome.

  6. Looks good can’t wait to see what you think!
On my blog this week I shared the first line of Searching for You by Jody Hedlund but it’s also my current read so I’ll share the first line from my current chapter (8) here: ” Sophie stretched and yawned, relishing the scent of bacon and coffee and something sweet.” I’m good for the bacon but I have to admit I don’t like coffee OR the smell of it (yes, I know I’m the odd-ball lol). Hope you have a great weekend!

  7. Happy Friday!

Today, my first lines come from A Vineyard Christmas by Jean Stone…

The turnout was better than Annie had expected. It was, after all, a bitter, see-your-breath kind of morning, with a brisk December wind whirling around Vineyard Sound.

Have an awesome weekend and stay warm!😊💕

  8. Great first lines! On my blog I’m featuring A Tale of Two Hearts: Book 2 in Once Upon a Time Dickens Christmas by Michelle Griep. I’m currently reading A Holiday by Gaslight by Mimi Matthews. Since I’m on Chapter Two, I will share the first line from this chapter. “You told him what?” Have a wonderful rest of your weekend!
