My Heart Belongs in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania: Clarissa’s Conflict

About the Book

Saturday night, early December 1860

Adams County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

Five miles north of Gettysburg

It was so black she could not see her hand even if she held it so close it touched her face. To the left and right she could not even pick out the trees on either side of the forest path.

It did not matter.

I am so very excited to read this book! The cover is really pretty. The premise seems highly engaging — the daughter of a respectable tradesman by day, and underground railroad conductor by night…sounds thoroughly intriguing. I have greatly enjoyed the several books that I have read in the My Heart Belongs series. I am sure this book will be excellent as well. I mean, who doesn’t love a good Civil War drama?!

NOW IT IS YOUR TURN! GRAB THE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING, OPEN TO CHAPTER ONE, AND POST THE FIRST SENTENCE (OR SECOND SENTENCE) IN THE COMMENTS BELOW. THEN HEAD ON OVER TO HOARDING BOOKS TO SEE ALL OF THE FLF PAGES THIS WEEK (JUST CLICK ON THE FLF BUTTON BELOW).

  1. Sounds great!

I’m featuring the first line from Angela K. Couch’s brand new release “The Tory’s Daughter” on my blog, but here, I’m going to share the first line of “Little Women”, which I’ve just started listening to via audiobook:

“Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents,” grumbled Jo, lying on the rug.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. My first line is from Stratagem by Robin Caroll:

“ According to your estimation, she has eight minutes to figure out she can’t open the doorunless her employee uses the key he got in the last room.”

Funny, Nucole! I just started Murry’s book last night! I have really enjoyed this series, also. Happy reading!

My first line comes from A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner:

    Manhattan
    September 2011

The length of floral-patterned challis rested on the cutting table like a bridal bouquet undone.

    I enjoy Catherine West’s books!

    Happy Weekend and Happy Reading!!!

  5. Today is book launch day for my latest Regency novel, so I’m featuring it on First Line Friday on my blog. However, I am currently reading A Tale of Two Hearts by Michelle Griep. I will share from the third chapter, which is where I’m at. “It was a grisly kind of day.”

  7. “If the Etonville Little Theatre was doing “Carousel” instead of “Bye, Bye Birdie”, I could sing “June Is Bustin’ Out All Over”” Lola Tripper said, humming and sipping a cup of coffee in a back booth of the Windjammer restaurant, which also functioned as my office.

  8. Happy Friday!🍁

My first lines come from Things Left Unsaid by Courtney Walsh….

This is it, Lyndie. Don’t blow it. Lyndie St. James stood in the hallway of Judson Music Studios, willing herself to open the door. A door that, in the past few months , had come to mean so much, thanks to constant reminders that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Have an awesome weekend and happy reading!🍁🙃💕

  12. Happy Friday! I’m sharing from An Unseemly Wife by E.B. Moore on my blog. Here is the first sentence from Chapter 6:

“On and on, they rode alone through the woods, between the branches, a flaming sun setting thin clouds aglow, until one night the sky cleared to a deep black studded with uncountable white points.”
