His Encouragement #51

CollageMaker_20180926_205635786.jpgGood morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Exodus 33:14 (ESV)

And He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

In one day, I wear an overwhelming number of hats. I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister, teacher, counselor, college-adviser, disciplinarian, friend, book reader and reviewer, bill-payer, house-cleaner, dinner-maker, and constant laundry-doer. I wake up at 5:15 am, work HARD all day, crawl into bed sometime between 10-10:30 pm, and end my day feeling completely behind.

Most days I do not feel like I have had rest. And, unfortunately, my weekends have been as busy as the week days. One of my former students recently got married (it was AMAZING), my niece turned one so we had a party, my sister-in-law turned the big 3-0 so we had a party, there was a family reunion BBQ, a posthumous teacher-of-the-year awards ceremony for my friend who died in June, and several other really memorable affairs. How can I say no to my precious family and friends on their big days?

When I remembered that I had to complete this post for the week, I got a little overwhelmed. I’m not going to lie, my attitude turned negative. I thought, “How can I get out of doing this? I’m so incredibly tired and I have absolutely ZERO inspiration!” Then, I felt ashamed. My attitude allowed me to turn sharing God’s encouragement into a common chore!!!

But God led me to Exodus 33:14. This verse tells me that God will go with me. And in that, He will give me rest. It’s like He is saying, “I’ll be the driver on this journey. You sit on the passenger side. We’ll do this together, but I will do the work.”

I cannot tell you how encouraging this verse is to me this week. We serve a truly beautiful, awesome, merciful, and loving God. I will carry this image of God driving my life’s journey in my heart forever now. And when I get really stressed by all that is required of me, I will remember that there is plenty of room in God’s car for all of my hats!

  1. What a great post. Yes, we all feel overwhelmed with what we have to accomplish during the day, on weekends, in the evenings. But knowing God’s in charge of time always reassures me I will be able to carry out what He’s willed for me today. Thank you for posting. They always come at the right time!

  2. Amen such a great post! I understand some weeks are hard finding the “umpfh” as much as the inspiration to write but often I think those are the weeks we need to hear from God most.Sometimes God speaks best when we have nothing to say ourselves.
