About the Book

Ethan sat, utterly alone, on the wrought iron garden bench. Anyone who saw him would have wondered why he wasn’t frozen to death, or if he was instead a life-like statue. He sat without motion, and his breathing was so slow and shallow that it didn’t even make vapor puffs in the frigid air.

This is my next-up book on my TBR pile. I am a big fan of fairy tale variants, so I am looking forward to reading this little novel. Definitely check back soon for my review!

  1. Happy Friday!

Melanie Dickerson does such a wonderful job with her fairy tale retellings and I’ve also enjoyed Christina June’s books.

Here’s the first line from Elizabeth Goddard’s “Stormy Haven,” a Love Inspired Suspense book.

    “Only three more miles…”

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I’ve not heard of Christina June. I will have to check her books out. And, thank you for sharing! I hope you have a great weekend filled with good reading time. 😀📚

  2. Happy Friday!😎

My first lines come from a book I’m reading shortly, Living in Harmony by Mary Ellis.

The rain’s finally stopped. We’re late. I’d better get you home before your father comes looking for us carrying his squirrel rifle—thunderstorm or no.”

“Hmm,” replied Amy. John’s attempt at humor fell short of its mark.

Have a relaxing weekend and happy reading!😊

  3. The book I’m sharing on my blog is “His Bluestocking Bride” by Sally Britton. Here, I will share the first line from Chapter 17. “Tucked up in her favorite chair by the library fire, Ellen turned the page in an interesting volume on the subject of astronomy.” May you be able to fully enjoy your weekend!

  4. I’m part way through a different fairy tale variant – Unhinged by Amanda Deed, a retelling of Beauty and the Beast (so it might just be my favourite, because of the library).

Today I’m sharing from Formula of Deception by Carrie Stuart Parks on my blog. It’s a standalone thriller, not part of her Gwen Marcey series, and it’s set in Alaska – always a great start! I don’t have a line to share here because I’ve been editing this week, not reading, and the first line might change. I’ll be sharing it just as soon as I get permission from the author 🙂

  5. My first line comes from The Choice by Robert Whitlow,,,

    Rutland, Georgia, 1974

Sandy Lincoln nervously twirled her long blond hair around her index finger.

    Happy Friday and happy reading!

  6. I’m currently reading Elizabeth Maddrey’s Donuts & Daydreams which I’m really enjoying. The first line is “‘Oh, thank goodness you’re still open.’” I hope you have a nice weekend!

  7. My first two lines are from An Hour Unspent by Roseanna White:
    May 11, 1915
    Poplar, London, England
Barclay Pearce shouldered his way through the mob, invisible. He’d learned over the years how to blend into any crowd, and this one was no different.

  8. I’m sharing lines from A.L. Jackson’s upcoming release More of You on my blog today. It’s a second chance romance.

Here, I’ll be sharing lines from My Kinda Forever by Lacey Black.

“It’s a Summer sister tradition that on the first Saturday of each month, the six of us get together.  We take turns picking the location or activity, anything from margaritas and a movie to wine and painting classes at the small uptown gallery.  One thing, though, is as certain as the sun rising over the Chesapeake Bay every morning: there will be alcohol  involved. “

    Happy Reading!

  9. I’ve been enjoying Sarah Price’s Amish fairytale retellings. I’m featuring my newest book by a favorite author, Early Riser by Jasper Fforde. I flipped a bit forward to page 15, so I could share a line:

“There was an intake of breath. It was the mission statement of the Campaign for Real Sleep, sort of a rallying cry.”

    Happy Friday!

  10. I enjoy fairytale variants but picking a favorite isn’t very easy! I am currently a big fan of Sara Price’s Amish retellings so I might go with those.
The book I shared this week on my blog is A Changed Agent by Tracey J Lyons. Shockingly I’m not reading a book right now because I finished one last night and was gone all day today. This won’t be a reading weekend for me but I’m enjoying a busy weekend with friends and family. Hope you have a great weekend!
