Good morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.
Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!
Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:
Isaiah 40: 28 (ESV)
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
I’m going to be real honest…I’m exhausted. I asked God to give me a verse so I could get this post done quickly because I just want to go to bed (I write these posts on Wednesday nights). There is no way to list all of the things on my plate right now because it is just too much, but suffice it to say I am severely overwhelmed.
I have a tendency to work myself at a frenetic pace, but then at some point hit a moment of paralysis because of all I still have to do. Can you relate?
So, God gave me Isaiah 40:28. In my mind, this is how I hear Isaiah speaking these lines: “You don’t know about God? You haven’t heard? Well let me tell you, He’s everlasting…yep, God is forever. He NEVER gets sleepy or feels the need to take a break. Can you believe that? Oh, and He is the Creator of everything, and Google’s got nothing on Him. His knowledge is endless. Pretty cool, huh?!” Yes, Isaiah, God is pretty amazing!!!
Right now, my favorite part of this verse is the fact that God does not grow weary. I’m grateful, especially in my current exhausted state, that God does not get tired because if He did need sleep, we wouldn’t be able to turn to Him for soul rest whenever we needed. We would have to wait for Him to wake up. BUT God doesn’t sleep SO He can be available to us 24/7. This should make Matthew 11: 28 (Jesus says “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”) an even more powerful verse when you consider Jesus is telling us to come to Him at ANYTIME, as many times as we need. He is ALWAYS there for us. He is always a place of REAL rest.
I don’t know about you, but to me these are SUPER comforting promises from God.
NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

I hope you can get some rest soon girl! School’s-a-comin! 😉 You’re right though, it’s encouraging to know that even though we can easily grow weak and tired, God is never weary. ❤
