His Encouragement #40

Good morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Psalm 32:5 (ESV)

I acknowledged my sin to You, and I did not cover my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Contrary to what the world is currently saying, we all sin. It is imperative to be the person God made us to be, but many in our society have twisted this to mean be/do whatever we want. This has cultivated a deep sense of chaos in our society — now we justify blatant sin as nothing more than being ourselves. This is crazy and contrary to God’s will for His people.

Psalm 32:5 stood out to me this week as a really pivotal verse that makes some very important points. This verse admits that humans do sin. It’s a fact. In this verse, the speaker acknowledges his sin rather than hides it. The speaker takes responsibility for his actions/thoughts that are contrary to God. Instead of covering his faults, he makes confession. He goes to God to have a heart-to-heart. This verse also explains that if we go to God recognizing our iniquity and holding back nothing, HE WILL FORGIVE.

The verse doesn’t say that God hates the sinner. It doesn’t say He is judging the sinner. It doesn’t say He is ashamed of the sinner. Psalm 32:5 says that if the sinner goes to God and confesses his sin, God forgives. It’s that simple.

Folks, we serve a really awesome God! I am so grateful He is my Lord and Savior. I hope this verse encourages you today as it has me. God bless!!!

  1. So true! It’s easy for us to find fault in others, but much harder to admit our own faults, yet it’s exactly what we should be doing. We need to worry about and confess our OWN sins, not those of others While there is accountability in the body, we should focus on our plank before looking to another’s speck.
