I am SO excited to read this story. First, I love Cara Putman novels. They are AMAZING. I know when I pick up one of her books that I am in for a great story. Second, I LOVE the book and film A League of Their Own, so knowing that A Promise Forged is about a woman who plays for the All-American Girls Professional Softball League makes me even more excited to read what I am positive will be a great story.   3. Today I shared the first couple of lines from Fiona Davis’ upcoming book “The Masterpiece” on my blog. But as I’m only about 25% into the book, let me share the first few lines of the chapter I’m currently reading.

    “Clara had seen Levon only twice since he’d taken her class five days earlier: once in a crowded hallway, where he’d given her a salute as he brushed by, and another time on the concourse of the terminal, where she was certain he’d spotted her but pretended not to.
    His puerile behavior annoyed her. She had no way of knowing if he’d upheld his end of the bet and insisted that Mr. Lorette keep her on.”

  6. I am beginning A Promise Forged this weekend. Here’s the first line from a book on my TBR shelf, Justice Buried by Patricia Bradley — It wasn’t too hot for 10:00 P.M. in the middle of May unless you were about to climb over the ledge of a fourteen-story building in downtown Memphis.

    She sensed someone had entered the room, even though she’d been dozing and hadn’t heard the whoosh of the door opening or the squeak of athletic shoes on the tile floor. Her eyes felt glued shut.

    1. I need to read her books. I have to stop saying yes to all the publicity tours so I can read more books of my choosing. It’s just hard… I want to read the books for the publicity tours. 🤪😉
