Good morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.
Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!
Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:
Psalm 1: 1-2 (ESV)
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night.
Two things jumped out at me when I read these verses this week.
First, it’s super important to choose our friends wisely. Verse 1 makes me think of Job. Poor Job had the worst friends. They condemned him. They showered him with platitudes and half truths. They scolded him. They completely missed what it meant to be supportive through tough times. When we are at our lowest, we need someone who will tell us truth, who will love us, and who will be there for us they way we need. This means we have to know the hearts of the people who we claim are near and dear to us. Do they love God? Do they know God? Do they make healthy, responsible choices? If you can answer “Yes,” then you have a pretty excellent, Godly support team.
Second, we need to be in the Bible DAILY! We need to meditate on God’s Word every day. This draws us closer to God, which inevitably keeps us on the right track. I don’t know about you, but this definitely brings me comfort today!
NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!
WHAT BIBLICAL VERSE IS ENCOURAGING YOU TODAY?

Have been praying through Proverbs this week, and 15:28 convicted me: The mind of the righteous ponders how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours out evil. It made me think about the difference between pondering and pouring, and how to apply that at home, as I parent and as I speak with my husband. Do I ponder, or do I react emotionally and just pour out whatever comes to mind? Raising teenagers in not for weenies, and I find myself needing to go to the next room and ponder before I just react….

I love this!!! A great reminder for me too. I definitely need to work on pondering better. I’ve been a HS teacher for the last 14 years. I can tell you, raising teens is definitely not for weenies. 😁
Thank you so much for sharing!

What an excellent reminder! Thank you! I’ve been thinking about 1 Peter 5:6 lately and what it means to be humble under God.
