Milcah’s delighted voice interrupted Shana’s quiet reverie in the back room, where she was absently flicking a broom over the mud floor of their tiny stone-walled home.

I love Biblical fiction, so when the opportunity arose to read and review Woman of Clay, I jumped at it. This book looks very promising, and I can’t wait to dive into 1st century Israel. Definitely check back in a day or two for my review of this book!

  1. Biblical fiction must be the coming thing – I also edit Christian fiction, and the book I’m currently working on is biblical fiction.

    I’m sharing from Open Circle by Stacy Monson on my blog. But today I’m sharing the first line from Then There Was You by Kara Issac, which has just won the 2018 RITA Award for Romance with Religious or Spiritual Elements from Romance Writers of America.

  11. That’s a genre I haven’t found real interest in. Maybe I’ll give it a go one day. On my blog I’m feature The Purchased Bride by Kit Morgan. Here, I will share the first line from Chapter Four of that novel. “Herman Mayer wasn’t the brightest or the nicest man around, and he knew it.” Wishing you a great Friday!

  12. For Biblical fiction, I guess I always have to go back to Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, because I read the Left Behind series in high school. In fact, I got to meet both of them at a book signing. 🙂 And then when I went to Liberty University, one of the athletic buildings was named after Tim LaHaye. Happy Friday!

    I’ve never heard of Women of Clay. I’m not really a fan of biblical fiction, but the first line makes it sound interesting. Maybe if I ever get through my extensive TBR pile, I’ll give it a go. This week’s FLF is Jen Turano’s A Match of Wits. I’m also reading Roseanna M. White’s Circle of Spies from the Culper Ring Series:

  14. Here is the first sentence of Chapter One from the book I am currently reading. “Three” by Ted Dekker.
    “The office had no windows, only electric lanterns to light the hundreds of spines standing in their cherry wood bookcases.”
    **It’s a book I’ve read before. I’ve actually read ALL of Ted Dekker’s books several times. He’s an amazing story teller.**

    1. My husband loves Ted Dekker novels. He’s read every one of his books. I’ve struggled with them. Not my genre. But, I do appreciate his storytelling ability. 😁 Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a great weekend filled with good reading.

      1. I also love Biblical Fiction. Francine Rivers has a trilogy called “The Mark Of The Lion” It is hands-down, one of the most inspiring series I’ve ever read. It’s about a young Jewish girl named Hadassah who lives in Jerusalem during the siege of Titus, son of Vespasian. I was never the same after reading them. I was inspired to be a more committed Christian and to not to be afraid to live a life of love and Christianity in front of a world that despises us. It broadened my depth of forgiveness. Trust me…its beautiful and transformational story-writing.

  19. I love really well-researched and well-written Biblical fiction! Right now, I enjoy Tessa Afshar, Mesu Andrews, and Angela Hunt — Judah’s Wife by that last author was one of my favorite books so far this year.
    Over on my blog, I’m sharing the first line from The Auschwitz Escape, but here I’ll share the first line from another book on my TBR pile, Anne Graham Lotz’ The Daniel Prayer: “The air was electric. People were shouting, crying, pleading with God.”

      Tessa Afshar and Mesu Andrews are my go-to authors for Biblical fiction. I haven’t read any of Angela Hunt’s works yet, but a couple of her books are sitting on my TBR shelves. 😁

  22. I’m not a huge fan of Biblical fiction (or at least, lately I haven’t read much). But I have enjoyed books by Stephanie Landsem and Tosca Lee!

    My first line comes from a hilarious novella I just finished, part of the Once Upon a Laugh collection releasing next week! “Lia ran through the prestigious 148-year-old halls, red ponytail flying behind her.” -If She Dares by Mikal Dawn
