I am the luckiest man alive. Here I stand at the edge of the world, nothing below me but rock and mountain and snow and a lake so clear it reflects the sky like green moss. It’s not yet frozen, but I know it soon will be. Another wonder of God. The stack of His marvels so high it stretches as far as I can see.

This is my very first novel to read by Misty M. Beller. So far, I am really enjoying it. The characters are very well crafted, the issues being dealt with are quite relatable, and the scenery is a character unto itself. I know I gave a bit more than the first line — I gave the first paragraph — but I really feel like it’s a great example of this author’s good writing style. I love the images. I feel like I am standing with the main character, Joseph, as he pens these sights into his journal.

  4. My aunt and uncle recently enjoyed a trip to the Canadian west. They took lots of amazing photo’s! The description in that first line is exactly what it looked like in the photos they sent back! I can only imagine how much more grand it would be in person! This book is on my #TBR and I hope to read it soon!

    Bruce fumbled behind his ears, adjusting the elastic band necessary to hold his Santa Claus beard in place. His salt and pepper hair was mostly white around his temples, the only places not covered by the traditional Sandy hat, so he fit the part well.
