What an awesome first line! It makes me want to dive into the book immediately. I am SO excited to read this book and see what kind of adventures Olivia finds herself in.
Karen Barnett is a fav author of mine. I adored the first book in this series, The Road to Paradise. If you haven’t read any of Karen Barnett’s novel, I totally recommend that you at least read The Road to Paradise.

Lou hoisted up her gown and winced as she tottered across the parking lot. The sparkly four-inch heels had looked so pretty in the box, but they felt like mortar and pestle grinding each bone in her foot. She missed her green Crocs.

Life has been so crazy this week, it’s taking me a long time to get through this book (which is not all bad)! I’m currently reading Where the Fire Falls by Karen Barnett. Here are the first couple of lines from chapter 10…
“Clark strode into the Glacier Point Hotel. A burning sensation simmered in his gut, like his best campfire stew straight from the pot.”
