Where the Fire Falls (Shadows of the Wilderness #2)

About the Book
July 2, 1929
Sacramento, CA
Olivia Rutherford applied lip rouge the same way she painted — with bold, broad strokes.
What an awesome first line! It makes me want to dive into the book immediately. I am SO excited to read this book and see what kind of adventures Olivia finds herself in.
Karen Barnett is a fav author of mine. I adored the first book in this series, The Road to Paradise. If you haven’t read any of Karen Barnett’s novel, I totally recommend that you at least read The Road to Paradise.
Happy Friday!π
My First Line comes from a book I’m reading now, The Ones We Choose by Julie Clark…..
If loneliness were a color, it would be the deep purple of my eight year old’s shirt as he walks solitary laps around the school track.
Have a great weekend and happy reading!πππ

My first line (plus some)
Lou hoisted up her gown and winced as she tottered across the parking lot. The sparkly four-inch heels had looked so pretty in the box, but they felt like mortar and pestle grinding each bone in her foot. She missed her green Crocs.

Another book on my TBR list that I haven’t gotten to yet! This cover is so vibrant, too!
ββIt is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.ββ No, I’m not reading Pride and Prejudice (again), but am reading a retelling by Debra White Smith: First Impressions.
Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! My first line is from Robin Masonβs The Silent Song of Winter.

The book I’m sharing this week on my blog is Grace in Strange Disguise but here I’ll share from The Calling of Emily Evans by Janette Oke, which is the book I featured for my Memorable Monday post this week: “Emily Evans lifted a slender hand and pushed back a wisp of wayward brown hair.” Have a great weekend! π

Laughing is good. The main character is pretty feisty.

Life has been so crazy this week, it’s taking me a long time to get through this book (which is not all bad)! I’m currently reading Where the Fire Falls by Karen Barnett. Here are the first couple of lines from chapter 10…
“Clark strode into the Glacier Point Hotel. A burning sensation simmered in his gut, like his best campfire stew straight from the pot.”

I’m so looking forward to this book! I’m sharing from L.M. Montgomery’s 1926 novel The Blue Castle on my blog, but I’ll share from my current read here – a novel set in the 1920βs, Ramble and Roar by Catie Cordero:
βI wasnβt looking for death. It found me. Thatβs what I tell myself.β
Happy Friday!

My first lines come from Three Day Fiancee by Marissa Clarke.
The perfect day for Caitlin Ramos started with a steaming shower at exactly five fifty-five, a double shot espresso from Zekeβs Deli at six forty-five, and a twelve-minute walk up Sixth Avenue where sheβd begin her first appointment clean, caffeinated, and on time.
Today was not a perfect day.
Iβm featuring lines from Cora Brentβs new release In This Life on my blog. Itβs a gorgeous story! Stop by and check it out!

My blog post today is sharing the first line of The Theory of Happily Ever After by Kristen Billerbeck. I’m currently reading Criss Cross by CC Warrens, which is all suspense:
The ominous sound of something scraping across the cement behind me raised the hairs on the back of my neck.
Have a great weekend!
