HIS Encouragement #26

CollageMaker_20180228_162151023.jpgGood morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Daniel 2:21-22 (ESV)

He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness and the light dwells with Him.

Change.

I don’t know about you, but change isn’t necessarily my most favorite thing. Some change is absolutely amazing. Meeting your future spouse for the first time, bringing your first newborn home from the hospital, buying your first house, and going to the first day of your brand-new job all come to mind as being positive and amazing changes. But other changes, like the death of a loved one, a cancer diagnosis, and watching as your child goes through something painful are examples of change that most hate.

The world, today, has lost its mind. People are behaving in ways I never imagined. Politicians and lawyers and judges are making choices that absolutely astound me. Even highly intelligent people I respect are saying things, believing things, and making choices that are just so confounding. I don’t recognize the world I am living in at all. These changes in society are being lauded as acceptable and loving and good, but honestly they just make me shake my head. We are truly living in times where good is bad and bad is good, and it is scary. And, what makes me the most scared, angry, and worried is how people behave once they learn you don’t share the same opinions. Where did kindness and compassion go? What happened to civility and respectful debate and agreeing to disagree? When did society become so single-minded and one-sided? We’re not a high school clique. We are a world of unique and wonderfully-made individuals. Why is society allowing itself to lose its individuality and uniqueness? One size DOES NOT fit all!

In these times of change, I turn to my Bible for comfort. Reading Daniel 2:21-22 reinforces within me that God is the BOSS. He chooses who will be in roles of authority, and He chooses when those people are done with their jobs. He chooses when to change seasons of life. He chooses when one receives a cancer diagnosis or a pregnancy confirmation. Nothing is happenstance in God’s plan. Change is hard, but it’s easier to handle knowing God is in the driver’s seat. It makes me feel less chaotic in this crazy world because I know that if it is happening God is allowing it for a purpose — for HIS purpose. One day, He will share the whole plan with us. For right now, I just need to trust in Him.

If you are currently going through a season of change, and you are frustrated, scared, or worried, have no fear because God is in control. He has you! Trust in Him to see you through this change.

NOW, IT’S YOUR TURN!

I can relate to every word of this post. Nice to know I am not in it alone. Nice to be reminded that GOD is in control and that no matter the circumstances we go through, if we hold fast to HIM, when it is all said and done, we will be with HIM where HE will take away every hurt and sorrow, and wipe away every tear.

Thank you so much for doing your Thursday posts. They are an important part of my weekly/daily prayer time and Bible studies. And they have quickly become a favorite devotional for me. Thank you!!!
