Where I Belong (2018) by Heather B. Moore is the second book in her Pine Valley series. This book comes in all forms including eBook, and is 230 pages in length. With a full-time job and a busy, busy five-year old, this book took me ONE day to read. I received a copy of this novel in eBook form from Mirror Press Publishing. In no way has this influenced my opinion of the story. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. I give Where I Belong 5 STARS. This book is a Contemporary Clean Romance.

About the Book

Jane Morris makes a living by cleaning the houses of the wealthy residents of Pine Valley, and she tries hard not to judge their extravagant lifestyles. But when one of her clients goes through a devastating breakup with his fiance, Jane finds herself in the middle of his emotional mess. She wants to help him, but Cameron Vance is a man she could easily lose her heart to. Jane agrees to be his date to the charity event of the year, organized by Cameron’s mother. But the magical night shows Jane that if she’s a Cinderella, then Cameron is definitely a candidate for Prince Charming.

My Thoughts

Where I Belong is an excellent clean romance. I loved every minute of it, and could not bear to put it down. Cinderella retellings are some of my most favorite stories ever, and this one does not disappoint!

This novel begins with “Prince Charming” — a.k.a. Cameron — at his engagement party. It turns out that his princess isn’t all she is cracked up to be. In fact, Crystal is just plain awful. She is manipulative, sneaky, underhanded, and condescending. I instantly took a great dislike to her character and could not wait for her to exit stage right so the real princess could make her entrance! But, I will say that Ms. Moore does a fantastic job of using this villain well. Twice, Crystal manipulates and twists situations that I just did not see coming. These moments added such great tension to the story line, but they were so much more than that. Crystal symbolizes that which is too good to be true. Cameron was dazzled by Crystal (probably why Ms. Moore named her Crystal) and jumped into something simply because of what it looked like. This is a good reminder to us all — let’s make sure to do our research first before we jump into a new home, new relationship, new job, etc. It’s very easy to be sucked in by the glitz and glitter of that thing that looks perfect. But, we should make sure that it is first, or we risk getting burned like Cameron did in this book!

The romance between Jane and Cameron is perfect. Jane is Cameron’s cleaning lady. They actually start out as friends trying to help each other out, which I thought made the story sweeter. As they get to know one another, Cameron realizes that Jane is the real deal, but he struggles to trust the situation. He doesn’t want to jump into something like he did with Crystal, so he is extra cautious. I rooted for Jane and Cameron the entire time! Jane is sweet and hard working and loyal and genuinely kind. She is a really excellent heroine! Jane is definitely the princess that Cameron is seeking. AND, the kisses!!! The kisses are so sweet and innocent and passionate all at the same time. Jane and Cameron are a fantastic fictional couple in every way, and I am sad my time with them is over.

Where I Belong is a great story that I cannot recommend enough. It definitely made my heart happy! If you are looking for a clean romance that is fast-paced, highly engaging, and completely adorable then Where I Belong is the book for you.
