Thursday Encouragement

HIS Encouragement #24

CollageMaker_20180228_162151023.jpgGood morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Psalm 105:1 (ESV)

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon His Name; make known His deeds among the peoples!

God is SO good! I mean SO, SO, SO good. Today, I am doing Psalm 105:1 and proclaiming to the world just how wonderful He is.

For those of you who follow my blog, or who know me personally, you know that two weeks ago my husband, daughter, and I were evicted from our home of four years. The landlord wants to sell the house, so we have two months to get out. I was very nervous and a little scared, but I went to God with my fears and nerves. He calmed me down and helped me get levelheaded about my family’s homeless status.

My husband and I prayed hard about finding a new house. We don’t care what we get or where we go as long as it is God’s will. My husband and I don’t rush into anything anymore without talking to God first. We made the mistake of doing that when we were newly married and it totally blew up in our faces. Now, we talk to God about EVERYTHING — even the mundane things — before we do anything. I call this “pulling a Hezekiah.”

One of my most favorite moments in the Bible is when Hezekiah receives a scary letter from his enemies. This can be found in 2 Kings 19. The text tells us that “Hezekiah received the letter from the hands of the messengers and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord and spread it before the Lord.” I absolutely love this and do my best to always take my “letters” to the Lord. What a great example for us to follow!

Anyway, back to my story. Two days after receiving our eviction notice, my husband and I found our new home! We put an offer on the house, it was accepted, and now we are in the final stages of closing. I am so excited!!! I am also incredibly grateful.

Thank you, Abba Father, for always taking care of me and my family! You are the greatest Provider and Protector, and I cannot express in words just how truly thankful I am that I still have a home for my child. Thank you, Lord God! AMEN!!!

  1. That is fantastic news! It is always amazing how the Lord can take a situation that looks bad from our perspective and turn it around for our good and His glory. Praise the Lord!

  2. I was expecting to hear a “happy ending” to your eviction story, just not so quickly. Thanks for sharing your praise! I looked up your Hezekiah verses – I love your phrase “Pulling a Hezekiah”!

The verse that has been speaking to me this week is Colossians 1:17: “He is before all things, and in him all things work together.”
