HIS Encouragement #23

CollageMaker_20180228_162151023.jpgGood morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Isaiah 25: 8 (ESV)

He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of His people He will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.

My first favorite part of this verse is the repetition of the word will. This one word brings me a lot of comfort. It’s future tense. Meaning, God will defeat death, wipe away tears, and remove insults and mockery against His people in the near future. The Bible is full of covenants between God and other people: Abraham, Moses, and David. I know that as a Christian who believes and loves Jesus as my Savior that I am grafted in to those covenants, but Isaiah 28:5 makes me feel like this future promise is a personal covenant between God and me [and you!].

I also love the idea that God will wipe away tears (my second favorite part to this verse). This means that there will be a time when no one will ever be sad ever again. What a brilliant and beautiful promise by God. One day, I will never shed a tear out of sadness again!

Right now, I cry all the time. I cry when I think about my beautiful best friend going to yet another cancer treatment. I cry when my daughter is hurt or sad or scared. I cry when my little brother treats me like a jerk — behavior I thought would have ended in our teen years. I cry out of frustration. I cry when I feel hopeless. I cry when I’m afraid. BUT one day, I won’t feel these things. God tells me He will wipe my tears away. What a phenomenally loving gesture from our Lord and Savior!

  1. Even so, come Lord Jesus! I’m looking forward to that wonderful day, when Jesus returns to take us all home to live with Him forever! No more tears, no more sadness, no more suffering!

  2. Oh I love this verse! I agree with Trisha, Come quickly Lord Jesus! I am ready!! What a comfort to know that one day we will put all of this behind us, and just concentrate on praising the Lord. 🙂

  4. what a blessing that we can find the comfort that we need for whatever problems we face in this life all in one book! There is no other that can compare to God’s Word! This is such a great idea! Happy Thursday! 🙂
