Thursday Encouragement

HIS Encouragement #22

CollageMaker_20180228_162151023.jpgGood morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek HIS will in all you do, and HE will show you which path to take.

God is AMAZING!

Yesterday, I got a notice in the mail from the company that owns the home my family and I live in. They are breaking our lease so they can sell the house. We have 60 days, and then we are being evicted. My immediate reaction was to stress, worry, and burst into tears. Then I thought about all the money it would cost to find a new place, move, etc. The cost would eat my savings, and I need that savings because I don’t get paid in the summer (#TeacherStruggles). I was quickly spiraling into the “woe-is-me” blues!

But God had other plans for me! He didn’t want me to freak out. He just wanted my attention.

It dawned on me mid-freak out that I needed to STOP. So I did. Instead, I grabbed my journal Bible, told Bella (my kiddo) to grab her journal Bible, got my box of pencils and markers, and sat down to pray and color the Word of God. I apologized to God for having even one second of worry, fear, and doubt. I asked Him to show me the Word He had for me. I opened my Bible randomly and landed on Proverbs 3. This made me laugh a little because God immediately showed me in Proverbs 3 that He’s got me and my family — all I have to do is TRUST HIM!!! Bella and I read Proverbs 3 together, prayed a little more, then colored the fun page in our respective Bibles. It was a definite personal-growth moment.

Going to God’s Word calmed me down. It calmed Bella down. And, HE showed me that He’s got this. I will not lean on my own understanding. I will continue to pray and ask God what HE wants. And, I will follow the path He sets me on during these next two tumultuous months (and forever after that). It will all work out fine. I trust God to take care of me and my family!

Now, it’s your turn!
