Good morning, and welcome to His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.
Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!
Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:
Psalm 4:8 (ESV)
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
I wear glasses. If technology didn’t exist as it does today, my glasses would be the size of Coke bottles, and that still wouldn’t be enough to correct my vision. I am legally blind without corrective lenses, and I’ve been this way since I was five years old.
Many people don’t realize this, but when you are legally blind, you pretty much see blobby, blurry nothings. Night time has been scary to me since I was a little girl because I can’t make anything out. I have had to fight the mental boogyman for 32 years. Most days, I’m so tired I fall into bed and don’t even notice it’s night. Sometimes, the misshapen blobs do get to me and my mind goes spinning, so I turn to prayer. Jesus has always been the answer to calming me down.
I usually fill my house with nightlights. When my husband and I moved in together, he actually made fun of me about our house being as bright as day at night because of all the night lights. Last week, two of my nightlights died and I haven’t had the energy to go to the store to replace them. After having read and mentally/emotionally digested Psalm 4:8 this week, I’m not sure I’m ever going to need a nightlight again. God directs me to secure places and blesses me with good sleep…even though I can hardly see a thing! AMEN!
Now, it’s your turn!
What Biblical verse is encouraging you today?

It is comforting to know that God protects us all the time. We don’t have to worry or be afraid.

Thank you! Days like today that threaten to swallow me whole, I need to remember that peace and rest. Oh, and thank you for the books. I received them and shared about your blog on Facebook (both my personal and author pages) and on Twitter. I’ve really enjoyed your reviews and your days of encouragement from the Word.
