Happy Friday, y’all! And, Happy Holidays. This week, I am showcasing Debra E. Marvin’s Christmas novella, Desert Duet. So far, the fist line definitely has me intrigued. Is Thea getting ready for a party? Is she just checking out her outfit as women will do? Is she wearing something new? And, this line kind of makes me think that maybe Thea will have a great sense of humor. Don’t really know why I think this, but I am eager to see if my instincts about Thea are correct.

This will be my very first Debra Marvin novel. I am very excited to read this story. I have heard good things about this novella, but also about Debra’s other writings!!! If you have not heard of this book, click HERE to check it out.

    On my blog, I’m featuring the first line from a fun Christmas read called ‘Tinsel in a Tangle’ by Laurie Germaine, but here, I’m going to share the first line from another Christmas book I recently finished, this one by Chautona Havig, called ‘Carol and the Belles’:

    “I’ll never get off this plane.”

    I have to say that I had to hurry over to see my first line. It made me laugh. (Good thing, huh?) I love Thea’s story. It always felt like a good old-fashioned movie to me, so I hope readers agree.

    I agree that the first line makes you wonder and want to read more. I’ll have to take a peek at that book.

    Kelly Murphy was willing to accept certain injustices in the world. That brownies had more calories than celery.

Over on my blog, I’m featuring Monster by Frank Peretti, but over here, I’ll share the first line of another on my TBR pile, The Cottage by Michael Phillips: “The letter two weeks before had been brief. Less than half a page. Yet in an instant it had turned her life upside down.”
