Good morning, and welcome to another edition of His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.
Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!
Today’s Thursday Encouragement comes from:
1 Peter 5:6-7
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.
This has been an exceptionally stressful week. Today is the due date for college applications and my Seniors have waited until the last possible minute to get things completed. As their teacher, I spent an entire week in the first part of September getting them ready for the college application process. I told them all, “Do not wait until the last minute!” True to teenage form, they all waited until the last minute, which means I have been furiously trying to get recommendations and EOP forms completed throughout this week. I have gone to bed absolutely exhausted. And. I’m so scatterbrained this week, I completely forgot today was Thursday and I needed to get this post out (I’m really sorry for my tardiness…I can’t believe today is already Thursday).
The verses I am sharing today mean so much to me. They are an excellent reminder that God wants my problems. He wants to help me through everything: all the hard times, cancer diagnoses, loss, money troubles, etc. But, what really struck me today is that God even wants the little things that overwhelm us, things like students waiting until the last possible minute to complete something that will absolutely change their lives, and my five-year old spilling milk on the carpet. I am so good at giving God all my BIG problems, but I forget to give Him my little problems. I foolishly believe I can take care of those things on my own. This morning is proof that I need to give God ALL my burdens. If I had given God my small problems this week, I would have been a way more peaceful gal. Thank you, Jesus, for this reminder today!!!
I wish you all a blessed and peaceful Thursday!!!
Now, it’s your turn!

Thanks Trisha! It’s been a crazy day for sure with all my Senior students freaking about finals coming up and UC/CSU applications due today. But, I gave it all to God, so now I’m just smiling. Hope you have an awesome Thursday!!!

I can relate to your post right now! I especially love this statement: “…what really struck me today is that God even wants the little things that overwhelm us…” Such an important reminder during times of high stress! We don’t have to go it alone.
