HIS Encouragement #3

Good morning, and welcome to another edition of His Encouragement Thursday! I don’t know about you, but Thursdays are my struggle day of the week. By Thursday, I have already been working hard at school and at home, and I just wish it would hurry up and be Friday already. LOL! I definitely need a little extra Jesus time on Thursdays.

Trisha, my blogger friend at Joy of Reading, and I decided on calling this post “His Encouragement” because our real source of peace, strength, and security can only come from Jesus Christ. He, and He alone, is our constant! We pray and hope that these Thursday posts become a real encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday encouragement comes from:

Deuteronomy 31:8

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

One of my biggest issues is fear. If I were a character from the Wizard of Oz, I would be the cowardly lion. I hate that I am fearful. To me, my fear means I don’t trust God. I know that disappoints Him, and I never, ever want to disappoint Him. As I have gotten older, I have gotten a little better about my fears, but every now and then my fears really rear their ugly head and lay me low!

My best friend was diagnosed with angiosarcoma, one of the rarest forms of cancer, almost a year ago. I am afraid. She is one of the most important humans in my life, and I am afraid. My best friend is amazing. She is battling this thing as fierce as any warrior. I am in awe of how strong and courageous she is. But, I am still afraid. This week’s verse means everything to me. The imagery in this verse helps ease my fears. I mean, how can anyone really be afraid if God is standing before him or her? God will NOT forsake any of us. He is right by my best friend’s side helping her through this time, and He is right by my side helping me be there for my best friend. We have nothing to fear!!!

I know a lot is going on in the world today, and a lot is going on in your life, too, but, if you have a minute, could you please add my best friend, Lara, to your prayers? I would be so grateful to you!

Whatever you may be dealing with this week, I pray for God to grant you His strength and peace. Thank you for stopping by this week. God bless you!

Now, it’s your turn! What Biblical verse is getting you through your day today?

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your friend who is battling cancer. The verse you shared today is a wonderful reminder that we can know that God never leaves us. We can be brave and strong, because He is with us and for us. I will add your friend to my prayer list.
