An Inconvenient Beauty

Eton College, Berkshire, England, 1797

The line between boy and man was never murkier than when a father died too soon, leaving his son to walk through the foibles of youth while shouldering the responsibilities of adulthood.

I LOVE Kristi Hunter novels SO much. They are incredibly engaging, fast-paced, witty romances. I have enjoyed every novel in this series, and I am really sad that this is the final installment. So, I’m probably going to read this one a little more slowly to savor every minute. If you have not read this amazing series, check out my reviews for each novel by clicking HERE.

Now it is your turn! Grab the book you are currently reading, open to chapter one, and post the first sentence (or second sentence) in the comments below. Then head on over to Hoarding Books to see all of the FLF pages this week (just click on the FLF button below).

  1. My first line is from The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristi Cambron:
Sera James bounded through the front door of the Manhattan gallery, so excited that she nearly slipped for running across the hardwood floor in her heels.

This one is dual time. This is very tough when it is talking about the concentration camp but the story bounces back to present day and a mystery and of course the romantic element. Don’t know where this is going yet. I’m about 2/3 reds done. Kristy is a great writer. Hard to believe this is her first book!

I loved Kristi Hunter’s book. I, too wish there were more!

  2. I really have to find the time to fit in the rest of Kristi Ann Hunter’s series!

I’m sharing the first line from Lynn Austin’s new release ‘Where We Belong’ on my blog this week, so I’m going to share the first line of the book I just finished here: The Case of the Clobbered Cad by Debra E. Marvin.

“Heather Munro gazed down Victoria Street so long, she became another gray-suited statue along the Royal Mile.”

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Definitely a good first line. Pulls you in.
I’ve joined the FLF fun and featured a book on my blog, but I will feature a different one here: After A Fashion by Jen Turano. I haven’t started it yet, but it’s next on my list of books to read. “Miss Peabody, I do so hate to interrupt your work, but an urgent message has just arrived that requires immediate attention.”
