Thursday Evening

The music played in the background while the charity’s benefactors finished their dinner. A few danced, some chatted. Others looked slightly bored with the whole thing. But one person caught her eye. She watched the elegantly dressed female from across the room. She fit in nicely with the crowd, blended well. But stood out in one regard. “He’s mine,” she whispered. “He’s mine and you can’t have him. Go away.”

Isn’t that SO creepy!? Always Watching is a really fun read. If you are looking for a fast-paced, action-filled escape, then I highly recommend this novel. If you have not heard of Lynette Eason before, click here for her Goodreads author page.

  1. Yes, that’s creepy. I love romantic suspense! It’s the best of both worlds :0

    I’m sharing from Magnolia Storms by Janet Ferguson over on my blog today. But next on my to-read pile is Unblemished by Sara Ella, which is a bit different to what I usually read. But it’s got a great first line:

    This is all my fault.
    She’ll lose her soul because of me.

    Fortunately it’s Friday and tomorrow will be wet.

    I’m featuring Nicole Deese’s new book, “A New Shade of Summer” on my blog this week, but I’ve FINALLY managed to get around to reading Susan May Warren’s “A Matter of Trust”, and I almost didn’t even want to put it down to do the First Line Friday rounds! But I’ve forced myself to share the first line:

    “Gage Watson blamed the trouble on the bright, sunny day.”

  4. Yes , I’ve said it more than once: I’ll read ANYTHING by Lynette Eason! Love her writing. The others mentioned are great, too esp. Susy May Warren!

    My first line is going to be the first paragraph because It is short! It’s from These Healing Hills by Ann Gabhart. And her writing has captured me again!
    Francine Howard stepped off the bus into another world. She should have been prepared. She’d studied the Frontier Nursing information until she almost knew it by heart. That should have given her a glimpse into this place.

    There are sooo many good quotes to glean from this book and I’m only on page 53!

  5. I haven’t really read much in the area of suspense, or at least the really intense suspense. I’ve just skirted the edges with the more light cozy kind. I have heard really good things about this story, and have added it to my #TBR. Now I just need to work up the courage to read it. (I can almost hear you saying “Be Brave!”) hahaha!

    On my blog this week I’m sharing the first line from a book I just finished. The Case of the Clobbered Cad. It was a fun story to read. A nice cozy mystery.
    I’ll share here the first line from a book my son is currently reading.
    Tree Tall and the Whiteskins by Shirlee Evans
    “Tree Tall crept through the high dew-damp grass along the creek bank. It was early. The sun was not yet over the hill.”

    1. I’m not good with scary or horrors or anything like that either. But, this book is not any of those things. It’s definitely engaging. I really liked the main character. She’s so tough and smart and cool. It’s a good “girl power” book! I think you may like it Trisha. 😊

    My first line on my blog is from Colleen Coble. But I grabbed a book beside me for here.
    “He’d found her.” by The Texan’s Courtship Lessons by Noelle Marchand. My mom gave this book to me and I haven’t read it yet.
